Star singers, MI, Waje and Chidinma, currently have a peculiar work to do as they are the judges of what can be described as Nigeria’s first toddlers’ talent competition.
The competition organised by the Cussons Baby brand is conceived to give children between two and five years the opportunity to exhibit their talents in singing, dancing and poetry.
At the unveiling of the project in Lagos were the company’s Head of Category and Channel Manager, Jimi Taiwo; Category Marketing, Family Care, Mildred Bagshaw; Category Manager, Family Care, Faith Okoli; Brand Manager, Oluwaseun Ayeni; and Assistant Brand Manger, Cussons Baby, Tobi Adetunji.According to Bagshaw, the initiative is a response to advice by consumers, especially parents, who have said through their feedbacks that the brand should move a notch higher of its initial baby competition by introducing a talent contest for the toddlers.
“The motivation for the brand came from the consumers. They are the ones that we are here for and this is a direct response to the feedbacks that we got from the two editions of the Cussons Baby Moments, where some parents wanted us to take it a notch higher and include children that were older than the target audience, which we are looking for in the photo competition.”
According to her, the new initiative is tied to the brand communication platform of Cussons Baby Moments, which is celebrating exciting and happy moments with children.
MI said the team of judges was passionate about the new assignment and would put in everything to ensure that the kids were properly assessed. Commending the initiative, MI said, “The company has done a fantastic job of conceptualising and putting the event together. We are fit as judges because we have been part of this as musicians.
“We are going to use that experience to sit down and look for something exceptional, somebody that is very talented. That would not be too difficult but managing the parents’ emotion could pose a bit of challenge. Eventually, everybody will be happy.”
