Murder Arrest After Sex Worker, 21, Found Dead

Leeds murderA man has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the death of a young woman who was found with serious injuries.
The 21-year-old victim, a sex worker, was pronounced dead in Leeds General Infirmary after being discovered unconscious by police.

Officers were called to Springwell Road in the Holbeck area of the city early on Wednesday.
They found the woman with injuries "consistent with an assault".
Detective Simon Atkinson said a 38-year-old man had been detained.
The woman's identity is known, but her name is not being released until her family is told.
Another sex worker found her in the Emmanuel Trading Estate before alerting a member of the public, he said.
"We can confirm that the victim was a sex worker and the incident has taken place in the managed area where sex workers operate within a defined area during set hours," Det Atkinson said.
"We are therefore appealing to anyone involved in any aspect of sex work in the managed area in Holbeck to let us know anything they have seen or heard that could assist the investigation."
He said police patrols have been increased, and urged anyone who was in the Springwell Road area between 8pm on Tuesday and 1.30am on Wednesday to get in touch.
