Already, the police have arrested a suspect in connection with the killing of June.
Investigations indicated that 17 members of PDP were summoned to the police command and grilled by a team of detectives over their alleged involvement in June’s death.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ansim Butwats, confirmed the arrest of Promise Meshak. Butwats, who assured the people of police capability to protect lives and property, said investigation is ongoing over the incident.
The Sylva/Igiri Campaign Organisation (SICO) of the APC commended the police action.
A statement by the Director of Publicity of SICO, Nathan Egba, said the recent violent attack perpetrated by the PDP thugs and arrest of the killer has confirmed the fears of the APC that the PDP was stock-piling arms to cause mayhem in a bid to rig the election.
Meanwhile Governor Henry Seriake Dickson has condemned the killing of June, noting that his death was a rude shock.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the governor also cautioned politicians and their supporters to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner during campaigns, noting that election is not a do or die affair and, therefore, any acts of violence should be condemned.
